He has a degree in Forestry Engineering from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). He obtained a master’s degree in Hydraulics, Water Resources and the Environment from the University of Coimbra and a PhD in Agronomic and Forestry Sciences from UTAD. As an Assistant Professor in UTAD’s Forestry Department, he taught Forest Hydraulics and Tropical Silviculture (Forestry Engineering), Watershed Management and Remote Sensing (Environment and Natural Resources), Hydrology and Wildlife Conservation (degree in Applied Ecology). As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forestry Sciences and Landscape Architecture, he has been involved in the teaching of various curricular units – Survey of Natural Resources, Hydrology for the Forestry Engineering degree, VESRF and Forestry Planning for the Forestry Engineering master’s degree, and Vegetation in AP II and Remote Sensing for the Landscape Architecture degree. He has worked in the Public Administration as Coordinator of the National Commission for the Valorisation of Community Territories and Director of the Northern Forestry and Fisheries District. He was an advisor to the Office of the Secretary of State for Forests and Rural Development, always on a service commission.
