Retired Full Professor at the Department of Economics, Sociology and Management, UTAD. Graduated in Agronomy, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (1978). Master’s and Doctorate in Continuing and Vocational Education – Educational Extension, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA (1984/1986). Researcher and coordinator of research in the area of Rural Studies, with emphasis on: Extension, Training and Development, Alternative Food Systems, Local Development Organizations and Agents. Teaching collaboration in other institutions, at home and abroad, namely in Spain, France, Greece, Albania, Italy, Mozambique, Brazil and the USA. Actively contributed to the planning, organization and animation of more than a hundred scientific meetings in Portugal and abroad. Author or co-author of more than a hundred publications, including scientific articles, book chapters, research reports and dissemination works.
