On November 7th, the Permanent Seminar on Research and Development (SPID) delved into the theme “Douro, tourism, and wine – a look at the crisis”, offering an immersive experience that bridged practice, theory, and history in the heart of the Douro region.
Featuring Paula Reis, from Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, and Alfredo Silva, from Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto, I.P., the event brought together students and academics from CETRAD for thought-provoking discussions, moderated by Teresa Sequeira, from UTAD/CETRAD. The dynamic agenda included a visit to the Quinta da Pacheca, where viticulture practices were discussed in dialogue with tourism, and a tour of the Douro Museum, showcasing the rich history and culture of the region.
It was an inspiring afternoon, highlighting the importance of knowledge and collaboration in addressing the sector’s challenges while driving sustainability and innovation in the Douro.
