On November 7th, the Permanent Seminar on Research and Development (SPID) delved into the theme “Douro, tourism, and wine โ€“ a look at the crisis”, offering an immersive experience that bridged practice, theory, and history in the heart of the Douro region.

Featuring Paula Reis, from Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, and Alfredo Silva, from Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto, I.P., the event brought together students and academics from CETRAD for thought-provoking discussions, moderated by Teresa Sequeira, from UTAD/CETRAD. The dynamic agenda included a visit to the Quinta da Pacheca, where viticulture practices were discussed in dialogue with tourism, and a tour of the Douro Museum, showcasing the rich history and culture of the region.

It was an inspiring afternoon, highlighting the importance of knowledge and collaboration in addressing the sectorโ€™s challenges while driving sustainability and innovation in the Douro.
