A significant milestone in research into human dynamics in contexts of isolation has been reached with the approval of the project ” HD-ENVI- A Social Network Approach to Human Dynamics During a 100-day Isolation and Confinement Study”. Led by Professor Pedro Quinteiro (CETRAD), this innovative project will investigate how the perception of social isolation, paranoid thinking and reflexivity impact the cohesion and performance of teams subjected to prolonged periods of confinement.

The research will be carried out in a simulated scenario that mirrors the extreme conditions of isolation faced in space missions and similar environments. Through a social network-based approach, ” HD-ENVI” promises to provide essential insights for understanding human interactions in these challenging contexts. The expected results could benefit the selection and training of teams in space missions, polar research operations and other critical isolation situations.

The approval of ” HD-ENVI” highlights the growing international recognition of research into applied psychology and group dynamics, marking an important step in advancing scientific knowledge about human behaviour in isolation situations.
