Through a recent collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and SpaceX, a team of researchers, led by Dr Judith-Irina Buchheim from the University of Munich, has had its research proposal approved for the โFram2โ mission. This mission, which includes the despatch of a Dragon capsule, will enable the collection of crucial data by the end of this year.
The project, entitled โESA Isolation Standard Measures for Space Missions – SpaceXposome ISMโ, has the participation of members of Universidade Lusรณfona, including Dr Pedro Marques-Quinteiro (CETRAD), and Prof Alexander Chouker, also from the University of Munich. The main aim of the research is to investigate how stress in space can affect the health, cohesion and performance of the crew, essential factors for successful missions.
With a focus on the resilience and well-being of astronauts, SpaceXposome aims to contribute to the sustainable exploration of the Moon and Mars, following the line of research of the SubSea ISM project, currently underway with the ESA, the Portuguese Navy and the Portuguese Space Agency.
