On June 23, on the island of La Palma (Spain), professor and CETRAD researcher Alexandre Guedes, was one of the invited speakers on the second edition of the Wine Tourism Sustainability and Innovation Forum with the aim of reflecting on how to innovate in wine tourism, from the perspective of Sustainability and Wine Tourism Innovation.
The professor of UTAD focused, among other topics, on the positioning of Portuguese wine tourism in the world and on the influence of the vineyard landscape on the tourist phenomenon, namely on accommodation prices, on the distribution of annual tourist demand and on navigability on the Douro River.
“This meeting highlighted the importance of wine tourism as a subsector of tourism, which has the potential to create value in small farms, and which could play a relevant role in the internationalization of wines”, says Alexandre Guedes.
